Modern Divorce Mediation, LLC provides divorce counseling and divorce mediation services in Los Angeles, Ventura County Malibu, Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, and surrounding areas.

SIMPLE DIVORCE

  • You have no minor children, no real property

  • You each own your own assets, and just want the agreement to say that you will each keep what you have have in your possession and under your name

  • You have an existing potential agreement as to spousal support, or spousal support is not at issue

Initial consultation (1-hour)

Preparation and filing of required documents with the court including the Petition, Response, financial disclosures, Marital Settlement Agreement, Judgment, and judicial documents*

Up to 6 hours of Mediation as needed to facilitate existing agreements on terms of divorce

Additional mediation sessions as needed at attorney’s hourly rate

  • DIVORCE COACHING: Do you need an overview of the divorce process and help understand what to expect? We can provide information and support so you can make informed decisions throughout the process. We will clarify your goals and priorities, whether it’s custody arrangements, division of assets, or spousal support. We can explain your legal rights and the different options available, such as mediation, collaborative divorce, or litigation. We can also assist in helping you understand your financial situation, and planning for financial independence during separation and post-divorce.

  • DOCUMENT REVIEW AND PREPARATION: In addition to our core mediation services, we offer comprehensive document preparation and legal consultation for settlement agreements, financial disclosures, custody agreements and parenting plans to ensure accuracy, completeness, and fairness. Whether you need support during mediation or require additional assistance beyond it, we are here to help.

  • EXTRA SUPPORT: Sometimes, existing mediation sessions need a bit more support. We provide extra assistance to help you and your spouse navigate through challenging discussions, clarify complex issues, and work towards mutually agreeable solutions. This service is ideal for couples needing additional time and guidance beyond regular mediation sessions.

  • A SECOND OPINION FROM A FAMILY LAW ATTORNEY: Our second opinion service offers you the opportunity to receive expert advice on specific family law issues. Whether you need clarification on legal matters, validation of your current strategy, or guidance on potential outcomes, our experienced mediators are here to provide insightful and reliable opinions.


*Filing Fees: Fees for filing the Petition and related documents and/or filing a final Marital Settlement Agreement and related documents with the proper court are NOT included in the fees paid for mediation. If the Mediator is directed to file such documents, filing fees must be paid in advance.

Refund Policy

Withdrawal from Mediation:

1. Withdrawal before Initial Session: If a client withdraws from mediation before the initial session begins, a full refund of any fees paid will be issued, minus administrative or court filing fees incurred, if any.

2. Withdrawal during or after the Initial Session: If a client elects to withdraw from mediation during or after the initial 1st session, a 75% refund will be issued, minus administrative or court filing fees incurred, if any.

3. Withdrawal during or after 2 Sessions: If a client elects to withdraw from mediation during or after the 2nd mediation session, a 50% refund will be issued, minus administrative and court filing fees incurred. 

4. Withdrawal during or after 3 Sessions:  If a client withdraws from mediation after the 3rd mediation session has commenced, no refunds will be issued.

Early Settlement: If the parties in mediation reach a mutually agreeable settlement before utilizing all scheduled mediation sessions, no refund of mediation fees will be provided. This policy applies regardless of the number of sessions remaining or the reason for early settlement. We encourage early resolution of disputes and recognize the value that comes with reaching a settlement efficiently. While there may not be a refund for unused sessions, the benefits of a timely resolution often outweigh any considerations for reimbursement.

Non-Refundable Fees: Certain fees, such as administrative fees or court filing fees provided outside of mediation sessions, are non-refundable.

Discretionary Refunds: In exceptional circumstances, the mediator may consider issuing a refund beyond the outlined policy, at their discretion. This could include situations of extreme hardship or unforeseen circumstances.

Request for Refund: Clients must submit a written request for a refund. Refund requests will be processed within a reasonable time frame, typically within 7 days of receipt of the request.

Modification of Refund Policy: The Mediator reserves the right to modify the refund policy at any time with prior notice, to address changes in circumstances or to comply with legal requirements.
